Galvanised Ribbed Steel Garden Edging Stakes
Secure your galvanised garden edging firmly in place with pre-drilled ribbed steel stakes designed for straightforward installation.
Available in 300mm and 400mm lengths, these stakes are suitable for galvanised edging profiles from 100mm to 185mm high. The ribbed profile provides strength and helps the stake maintain a secure hold in the surrounding ground.
Each stake includes a pre-drilled fixing hole that aligns with the fixing points along the steel edging. Once positioned, the edging can be secured directly to the stake using the appropriate screw.
Why Use Galvanised Ribbed Stakes?
- Designed for Galvanised Garden Edging – Compatible with pre-drilled galvanised steel edging profiles.
- Secure Ground Support – Helps keep the edging straight, stable and correctly positioned.
- Ribbed Steel Profile – Adds strength and improves rigidity without creating unnecessary bulk.
- Pre-Drilled Fixing Hole – Allows the edging to be screwed securely to the stake.
- Two Lengths Available – Choose between 300mm and 400mm stakes to suit the edging height and ground conditions.
- Easy DIY Installation – Drive the stakes into position, align the pre-drilled holes and secure the edging with screws.
- Low-Profile Installation – Stakes are positioned behind the edging to maintain a clean finished appearance from the front.
- Manufactured Locally in Melbourne – Made to suit the galvanised steel garden edging system.
How Many Stakes Do I Need?
For general garden edging installations, allow three ribbed stakes for every 2400mm length of edging.
Position one stake near the centre of the edging and one toward each end. The pre-drilled fixing points along the edging are spaced at approximately 813mm intervals to help create consistent stake placement.
Additional stakes may be required for tight curves, softer ground, sloping areas or locations where the edging needs greater support.
Choosing the Correct Stake Length
As a general guide, the stake should provide enough ground penetration to support the selected edging profile. Soil conditions and the amount of edging left above ground should also be considered.
- 300mm ribbed stakes – Generally suitable for 100mm and 150mm Redcor garden edging profiles.
- 400mm ribbed stakes – Recommended for the taller 185mm edging profile or where additional ground support is required.
Soft, sandy or recently disturbed soil may require longer or additional stakes. For taller retaining profiles, use the appropriate Galvanised L-Profile Stakes rather than standard ribbed stakes.
How to Install Ribbed Garden Edging Stakes
- Set out the required line or curve for your garden edging.
- Position the edging and confirm the finished height.
- Place the ribbed stakes behind the edging at the pre-drilled fixing points.
- Drive each stake into the ground while keeping it upright and aligned.
- Match the hole in the stake with the corresponding hole in the edging.
- Secure the edging to each stake using the appropriate fixing screw.
- Check the alignment before completing the surrounding soil or landscaping work.
Take care not to strike the fixing area directly with a metal hammer. Use an appropriate protective block or installation method to avoid damaging or deforming the stake.

Ordering Stakes with Galvanised Edging
Stakes are sold separately if not ordering a garden edging kit. Enter the total quantity required and select either the 300mm or 400mm length before adding them to your cart.
As a quick calculation, multiply the number of 2400mm edging lengths by three. For example, an order containing four edging lengths will generally require twelve stakes.
Delivery and Pickup
Galvanised ribbed garden edging stakes are available for delivery throughout Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula when ordered with your steel edging.
Flexible pickup is also available from Frankston South 3199.
