Heavy Duty L-Profile Galvanised Garden Edging Stakes
Provide strong, reliable support for taller galvanised garden edging and raised garden beds with heavy duty L-Profile steel stakes.
The folded L shaped profile provides greater rigidity than a standard flat or ribbed stake, helping taller steel edging remain straight, stable and securely positioned in the ground.
Available in four lengths from 450mm to 1180mm, galvanised L-Profile stakes are pre-drilled for straightforward fixing to compatible edging profiles. They are suitable for garden borders, raised beds and landscaping applications requiring additional ground support.
Why Choose Galvanised L-Profile Stakes?
- Heavy Duty Support – Designed for taller steel edging profiles and applications requiring greater strength.
- Rigid L Shaped Profile – The folded shape resists bending and provides increased stability in the ground.
- Designed for Galvanised Edging – Compatible with pre-drilled galvanised garden edging and retaining profiles.
- Pre-Drilled for Easier Installation – Fixing holes allow the edging to be aligned and secured directly to the stake.
- Four Stake Lengths – Available in 450mm, 580mm, 780mm and 1180mm options.
- Clean Finished Appearance – Installed behind the steel edging so the support system is concealed from the front.
- Straight or Curved Designs – Suitable for supporting straight borders and curved landscaping profiles.
- Manufactured Locally in Melbourne – Made to suit the galvanised steel edging system.
Which L-Profile Stake Length Do I Need?
As a general guide, select a stake approximately twice the height of the edging profile. This provides sufficient stake length below ground while allowing the edging to be fixed securely.
- 450mm stake – Generally matched with 230mm edging profiles.
- 580mm stake – Generally matched with 290mm edging profiles.
- 780mm stake – Generally matched with 390mm edging profiles.
- 1180mm stake – Generally matched with 590mm edging profiles.
Stake selection may vary depending on soil conditions, the amount of edging above ground and the volume of soil or landscaping material being supported.
How Many Stakes Are Required?
For general installations, allow three L-Profile stakes for each 2400mm length of Redcor edging.
Position one stake near the centre and one toward each end of the edging length. Align each stake with the pre-drilled fixing points before securing it to the steel profile.
Additional stakes may be required for tight curves, corners, sloping ground, soft soil or applications supporting greater lateral pressure.
L-Profile Stakes or Ribbed Stakes?
The correct staking system depends on the height of your edging and the support required.
- Ribbed stakes – Generally used with standard 100mm, 150mm and 185mm garden edging profiles.
- L-Profile stakes – Recommended for taller 230mm, 290mm, 390mm and 590mm edging profiles.
A 185mm profile may use a 400mm ribbed stake for standard garden edging, while an L-Profile stake may be more appropriate where additional strength or soil support is required.

Suitable Applications
Galvanised L-Profile steel stakes are suitable for:
- Tall garden edging profiles
- Raised garden beds
- Retaining mulch and garden soil
- Managing minor landscape level changes
- Sloping garden areas
- Straight or curved steel borders
- Residential and commercial landscaping projects
How to Install L-Profile Stakes
- Mark the required line or curve for your steel edging.
- Position the edging and confirm the desired finished height.
- Place each L-Profile stake behind the edging at a pre-drilled fixing point.
- Drive the stake vertically into the ground while maintaining alignment.
- Align the fixing hole in the stake with the corresponding hole in the edging.
- Secure the edging to the stake using the appropriate fixing screw.
- Check the alignment and support before backfilling with soil or landscaping material.
Use an appropriate protective block or installation method when driving stakes into the ground to avoid damaging or deforming the top of the stake.
Important Installation Considerations
The amount of pressure placed on taller edging increases with the height and depth of the retained material. Soil type, drainage, ground slope, stake spacing and installation depth all affect the finished strength of the system.
These stakes are intended for garden edging, raised beds and minor landscaping applications. Higher walls or applications supporting substantial soil loads may require professional installation, drainage, engineering advice or council approval.
Ordering Galvanised L-Profile Stakes
Select the required stake length and enter the total quantity before adding the stakes to your cart.
As a general calculation, multiply the number of 2400mm edging lengths by three. For example, five edging lengths will generally require fifteen L-Profile stakes.
