Choose Between 500mm and 700mm Heights
500mm-high planter boxes provide substantial planting depth while maintaining a balanced profile for courtyards, garden beds, patios and entrance areas.
700mm-high planter boxes create greater visual impact and additional soil depth, making them well suited to screening plants, feature planting and taller landscape designs.
Before selecting a height, consider the mature root system of your plants, the required soil volume and the planter’s relationship to surrounding walls, windows and pathways.

Compact Delivery and Straightforward Assembly
Depending on the selected size, your planter will arrive in two or four modular sections. This reduces the amount of space required during transportation and makes it easier to move the components through gates, side access and other restricted areas.
To assemble your planter:
- Prepare a firm, level installation area.
- Position the planter sections in their final location.
- Align the pre-drilled holes along each join.
- Insert and tighten the supplied fasteners.
- Check that the planter is square, level and correctly positioned.
- Prepare the base and fill with the appropriate growing medium.
Larger sections can be heavy. The number of people required for safe handling will depend on the planter size, site access and installation conditions.
Open Base Planters for Ground Installation
Standard Redcor planter boxes are generally supplied without a base. The open-bottom design allows direct contact with prepared ground and enables excess water to move into the soil below.
Ground preparation, drainage and growing medium should be selected according to the installation site and intended plants. Poorly draining ground may require additional preparation before the planter is filled.
Custom bases and feet may be available for rooftop, balcony, paved or patio applications. Call 0490 365 901 to discuss your requirements before ordering.
Understanding the Redcor Weathering Process
Redcor weathering steel may arrive with a dark-grey raw-steel appearance or may have already started developing its natural patina. Exposure to rain, moisture and changing outdoor conditions gradually transforms the surface into the characteristic rusty-brown Corten finish.
If the weathered surface is scratched, the exposed area can gradually develop a new protective patina. This eliminates the need for paint touch-ups or ongoing surface coatings.
Some surface run-off may occur during the initial weathering stage. Take care when positioning the planter near light-coloured paving, rendered walls or other surfaces that may be susceptible to staining.
Planning Your Planter Installation
Before placing your order, consider:
- The available space and required planter dimensions
- Access from the delivery point to the installation area
- The finished weight after soil and plants are added
- Drainage and protection of surrounding surfaces
- The mature size and root requirements of the selected plants
- Whether a custom base or feet will be required
Confirm the planter’s final position before filling it, as a completed planter containing soil will be difficult to move.
